They both have the same amount of their active sleep medication but Tylenol PM also has a headache medication. I would think that would make it more expensive, but it is actually cheaper. Anyone know the reason for that?

Has to do with what Tyleon had to pay to get the FDA to allow them to put a brand name on the medication and market it as Simply Sleep.
All simply sleep is, and all the medication for sleep in Tylenol PM is, is BENADRYL. You can get like 48 generic benadryl for like $5. It all has to do with marketing and patents. That’s it
ADDED: Simply Sleep is made by the makers of Tylenol. Simply Sleep is diphenhydramine ( a.k.a. Benadryl). Tylenol PM is Tylenol PLUS diphenhydramine. Diphenhydramine (Benadryl) has been generic and cheap forEVER. SImply Sleep is newer than Tylenol PM and Benadryl That means they are paying for new marketing, new labelling and new costs to have the FDA approve the labelling and new indication under their name for diphenhydramine. They are just exploiting the side effect of a medication indicated for allergies and getting that side effect labeled to be indicated for something on it’s own.
It may possibly cost more tablet per tablet to actually produce, I’m not sure about thaty though cause you can get generic tylenol PM for pretty cheap too. They’re passing the buck to you to make you pay for their paperwork. That’s all.
Tylenol is a household name and has been in business for years. They are a big corporation that can mass produce products. With Tylenol being a household name and a mass producer, they do not need to pay out as much money for advertising because most people already know and trust the name Tylenol. The Tylenol company pass the savings on to the consumer by charging less than their competitor for the same product.
If you tell somebody just to take generic Benadryl (diphenhydramine), they’ll scoff and then do it unknowingly anyway. People don’t read the fine print on the bottles and thus have no clue what they’re taking. They sell it for the higher price because they can. To save even more money, leave the “sleep aids” section and go to the “allergies” aisle.
