Lately…well since around November, reoccurring in late December I had a pretty hectic senior year. I mean all of the projects and preps for dances…You get my point. But since then my sleep had been really abnormal. It’s making me get more whiteheads/blackheads, though my point is: usually i’d sleep at 12am to 7am. Gradually, it became 2am to 7am. At first i took it as an “it’s okay” because usually I like to see tomorrow. My grades, fortunately, stayed above water. My not-too-necessary naps that lasted 4-6 hours apparently sunk me down. I don’t know it’s also 45% because I like to get everything done before bedtime. Just that now…I have nothing else to “finish”.
I have also noticed that if I sleep 7-9hours in the previous day, I would not sleep until 2am and then wake up at 5am. Then do the basic morning things. I don’t feel tired either.
I don’t feel depressed, but i feel like now, I should really get some sleep. Because I look bloaty & trust me, it isn’t the PMS stuff. I just look bloaty, and i’m breaking out with pores and black/whiteheads…
My memory is okay though i feel as though it’s gradually getting worse.
This Saturday I was planning on going to the doctor, but not for my sleeping deprivation. I was just thinking…should I tell them? Or is there some natural way? I’m not 18 yet, so it’s likely that word would go around that I’m taking sleeping pills (well “might be”).
…I also wanted to mention that since my 11-ish year old cousin came into town after her parents were having problems, she hasn’t slept as much either. Sometimes when I use the loo, I see the light in the guest room on. As briiight, not dim-ish as a nightlight. She was the reason my mom (now the one of her legal guardians) is going to the doctor. I have my appointment too, ‘course. yadayadayada….
My QUESTION is: should I get sleeping pills or try to result to something else? I have tried relaxing, and stuff but it didn’t work. It’s been a long time, I am now getting the time to worry over this.
Also, what is your opinion on 11-12 year olds taking sleeping pills or some pill for that?

talking to your doctor about sleep issues won’t necessarily get you sleeping pills. He may have many good ideas about how to get better rest. I also have a few suggestions along those lines.
1. no caffiene products after 3 pm.
2. Set a routine, Go to bed at the exact same time each night.
3. No naps, any more. The time you waste taking a nap you could have used to get your stuff done and then slept as you should.
4. Take a brisk walk after your supper or any time during the day. More exercise will relax you, and wear you out. Invite the cousin to go with you. Fresh air and sunshine is a great natural relaxer.
5. a cup of chamomile tea at beditme is a great natural relaxor and can get you to sleep.
6. No distractions. bedtime is bed time. No book, tv, radio, etc.
7. As you lay in the dark, in your most comfy position, tighten your toes and hold them tight for the count of 5. Then relax totally. Next, to your ankles and do the same. Work up your body to your head. Don’t know why but when I cannot sleep, I try this and rarely make it past my tummy muscles before nodding off.
8. Being over tired can act as a stimulant. Babies who are over tired just get crazy and are harder than ever to put to sleep. Even if you do not feel tired, go to bed. If it takes longer than 20 minutes to fall asleep, then you did not need the sleep. If you nod off in those first 10 minutes, then you did.
9. If sleeping 7-9 hours opne night ruins your sleep for the next night, set your alarm and wake up after 6 hours of sleep. That will also help establish a routine.
Good luck. Not sleeping wrecks your whole day and can really snowball into a big problem.
what usually helps me fall asleep is i concentrate on my breathing (sort of like i’m medetating). I concentrate on breathing in and out, in and out, and after about ten minutes i’m asleep. Also there’s a bunch of natural stuff you can look into if you don’t want to take sleeping pills.
