Lunesta The Way To Go?

Hi! I’ve been on Lunesta, Ambien, Roserem, Restoril and other sleep meds. There are many Rx and OTC prescriptions. Many of them have free sample size, or one week coupons. You don’t have to take Lunesta. Restoril is generic and might work as well for you. Read on!

Benadryl is an antihistamine that makes you feel sleep. It is pretty reliable and safe. I find the GEL capsules to work much better. If it works for you, use the Benadryl.

Rx sleep meds:
Ambien – hands down the strongest. S/E include acting weird or doing weird things before you go to sleep, and you won’t remember them. This has occured with me TWICE and with other people I know. I also said things that I wouldn’t have normally said, or things that were absolutely not true. But damn does it knock you out. DO NOT DRIVE ON ANY SLEEP MED, but especially not Ambien. Also, Ambien is good for knocking you out, Ambien CR is better for keeping you asleep (controlled release).

Lunesta – Second stronest sleep med, but a distant second to Ambien. I use the 3mg. They can’t really be broken apart. I find it helps me sleep longer (sleep maintenance) than really knocking me out (sleep onset, it helps a little but not a ton).

Restoril – about the same strength as Lunesta. It makes me feel a little groggy in the morning (Lunesta & Ambien does not). My friend has taken it nightly for awhile, and has not built up tolerance. Also, Restoril is available in generic (Temazepam), and the generic only costs a couple of dollars a pill.

Roserem – NOT FOR YOUR SITUATION. This is a med you take for a period of time to help you reset your clock (it acts on melatonin receptors, the guys that get activated when its dark and you should be getting sleepy). Its for jet lag, or for people like me that work shifts and travel alot.
