CALL the pharmacy, are you going to risk a child on unqualified medical advice?
you did not like your answers the first time?
I was presribed Unisom to help with nausea, which it didn’t unless you count knocking me out. This could be an option, but ALWAYS check with your doctor FIRST.
Yes they are, they ONLY thing we allow is Tylenol PM and even that is used in moderation. BUT, it is all in moderation and with consideration to what your doctor says. We say yes to Tylenol PM.
TOLD YOU TYLENOL PM!
I was told by my OB during both my pregnancies that a Tylenol PM occasionally is fine to take. I wouldn’t make a habit of it though
I wouldn’t recommed it. What you take the baby does too.
my guess because your body tends to become dependant on them with prolonged use that it would affect your baby.. i don’t know for sure what kind of impact it would have on the developement but i would definitely talk to my doctor and see what he recommends…good luck
go and see your doctor, there may be one that you can get that wont harm the baby, but generally i dont think you should taking sleeping pills while pregnant no
Nicky
it’s better if you don’t use it during pregnancy, because whatever you take, the baby is receiving too.
but if is necessary go to a doctor and ask about it and the effects if any on a certain kind of medication you might be taking.
they always say dont take anything in pregnancy apart from paracetamol. so i suggest no but if you are having trouble sleeping then i suggest you see ya doctor to see what they say, they might be able to give you a very mild one or something.
i hope this helps
some are.. ask your dr about the ones that are harmful to your baby.. i have been told that it is ok to use tylenol pm to help me sleep.. gl
I have terrible insomnia too. My doctor says sorry but that is just one thing that comes with being pregnant. I was also having terrifying nightmares. He said it was also common in pregnancy. He told me that he did not think it was safe to take sleeping pills while pregnant. He did say that benadryl was safe for the baby and makes you sleep dreamless sleeps. I wouldn’t take it if I were you without my doctor’s approval though. Ask your doctor he will think of something for you.
Ask your doctor before taking any meds when PG.
Medically speaking I have no idea. But as a mother I can say that I never put one in my mouth. I had serious insomnia and restless leg syndrome(before it even had a name).
I just felt like it would be the same as if I had an alcohol drink(toddy) to make me sleepy.
So I dealt with it.
good luck to you,
D
Always ask your dr before taking medications during pregnancy. Generally speaking, Tylenol PM is acceptable. Some doctors may recommend taking half a unisom, though most pharmacists advise against it. Tylenol PM contains Acetamenephine and Dyphenhydramine. This will help you fall asleep and will also relieve aches and pains. Most drs will recommend taking half a dose (500mg Acetamenephine and 25mg Dyphenhydramine) and only taking the second pill if you absolutely need it. Most bottles will tell you to take two pills, you should only need one. But once again… always talk to your doctor!
I just checked the list of meds that are okay to take according to the folder my doctor gave me and for insomnia it lists Tylenol PM or Benadryl as safe choices. But to make sure, ask your doctor.
Also you could try lavender products right before bed, such as: pillow spray, lotion, etc. I am bipolar, off my meds since 2 1/2 weeks pregnant and now almost 34 weeks pregnant, and lavender has helped tremendously with my insomnia all this time.
I don’t think they’re safe unless you get them from your OB/GYN. The less you put in your body, the better.
You should not take any OTC meds without first talking to your doctor. There is a VERY long list of things you can’t take and a very short list of what you can… I have been told sllep aids are not to be taken while pregnant unless your doctor consults with you about the risks. Most OTC meds have a mirror Rx that the doc can get for you that would be safer
